The Wheel of Fortune

Extremes too hard to comprehend at once. Being overwhelmed by a stream of tasks and duties. A thousand little things, tiny as pebbles, weighing me down. I get lost in the intricacies of how to steer the wheel, In an ocean so vast, loose view of the grand picture. We fuss about insignificant ballast and fail to see the gaping leak. We take turns at the wheel of fortune And secretly work on a way to jump ship. This poem was inspired by a line from Robert Frost’s The Armful
